About Online Viro
We write about the technique underneath the recipe: prepping, cutting, heat, seasoning and the small habits that make home cooking easier.
Who we are
Online Viro (onlineviro.com) is a US-based publishing website operated by Online Viro LLC from San Jose, California. We write about home cooking for people who cook most of their own meals and would like the process to feel less frantic and more repeatable.
What we cover
Our focus is technique rather than recipe volume. That means prep habits and mise en place, knife handling and knife care, reading and controlling heat on a domestic cooktop, seasoning in layers, building flavour from aromatics and fond, stocking a pantry that still produces dinner on a bare-fridge evening, and judging doneness without guesswork. When we do describe a dish, it is usually as a worked example of a principle.
Our approach
We try to explain why something works before telling you to do it. A cook who understands that browning needs a dry surface and a hot pan can adapt that idea to anything; a cook who has only memorised a step cannot. We favour plain language, we say when something is a matter of preference rather than of physics, and we are candid about the limits of general advice.
What we do not do
We do not make health or medical claims, and nothing on this site should be read as nutritional or dietary advice. We do not publish invented statistics, manufactured urgency, or promises about results. Cooking outcomes depend on your equipment, your ingredients and your own judgement, and we say so.
Food safety
Safe food handling — storage, hygiene, cross-contamination and safe internal cooking temperatures — remains the reader's responsibility. Where you are unsure, follow the current guidance published by your local food safety authority and the instructions supplied with your equipment and ingredients.
Who this site is for
We write primarily for US-based home cooks: people making weeknight dinners on ordinary equipment who want their cooking to improve without enrolling in anything. Beginners will find the fundamentals here; more experienced cooks may find a few habits worth borrowing.
